MACHINE AND PLANT ENGINEERING

FROM START TO EMERGENCY STOP

RAFI provides reliable control units and components for many applications across many industries. Included here are industrial robotics as well as paper and printing machines. Our products are also common in the packaging, food, leather and textile industries. RAFI control elements trigger the action almost everywhere.

PRINTING AND PAPER MACHINES

If you want high print quality, you need sophisticated machines you can adapt to new orders quickly. Many printers do more than just digital and offset printing, but also offer bookbinding or special packaging. So they use machines that produce graphical paper, cardboard packages, labels and other special paper. That means they have a broad range of requirements and demand top standards.

LEATHER AND TEXTILE MACHINES

Worldwide, the textile industry is under extreme cost and innovation pressure. That’s why energy-efficient manufacturing of textile products at maximum productivity is key issue. Even in countries with low-cost wages, the infrastructure and energy supply are huge obstacles to productivity. So, wherever the market, energy management is a big concern alongside profitability. Our high development competence and specific industry expertise support you in this area.

YARN MONITORS FOR TEXTILE MACHINES

Digital yarn cleaning unit. The system uses a yarn monitor to guarantee perfect yarns and piecers. Our sensor technology analyses the structure of all connection points as well as fluctuations in fineness. The system also detects fibre strips that are too thick or too thin. A yarn cleaner eliminates foreign fibres in the yarn. It’s important that no fibrous particles drop off during direct fibre feeding because they would impair the effectiveness of the yarn monitor. That’s why we coated the glass panes in the injection-moulding tool with plastic  to avoid any joint edges in the thread feed area. We also developed a special optics system that detects both the yarn structure and foreign particles.

Customer benefits

  • High-quality multi-component synthetic parts
  • Optoelectronic diagnostics
  • Switching development
  • Prototyping
  • Mass production (LCC - low cost country)

SPINNING POSITION CONTROL SYSTEM FOR TEXTILE PRODUCTION MACHINES

Apart from controlling the spinning position, this system also controls the input and output units. Furthermore, it monitors thread running to ensure smooth operation. We combined motor control technology and optoelectronics for excellent results. Typical requirements in the textile industry are high electronic interference immunity and long service life. A major achievement here was developing a motor control system that dissipates very little heat within a limited space.

Customer benefits

  • Comprehensive industry know-how
  • Housing parts with conductive plastics
  • Optoelectronic diagnostics
  • Newly developed motor control
  • Prototyping
  • Mass production (LCC - low cost country)

Interfaces in this field are becoming larger with controls similar to modern smartphones. Current technology is moving away from pushbuttons on  control panels toward complete touch systems. Customers expect better design and usability from touch systems. They no longer want specialised industrial applications but expect controls similar to those on the consumer market. RAFI responds to changing customer requirements by rapidly implementing the latest developments.

INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS

The fourth industrial revolution is gathering pace, with machines and robots becoming more and more intelligent. Customers want easy, fast teaching of the robots, flexible design, customisation and above all the right functions. Robots are still too expensive for many industries, but well established in the automotive industry. Manufacturers demand continuous improvements in design and technology.
