Keyswitches used as operating components in high-quality machines and devices need to have not only high switching reliability and a long operating life but also good tactility and an operating force suitable for the application and operational area in order to avoid operating errors and ensure convenient operability with clear feedback at the same time.
Featuring dimensions of only 5.1 x 6.4 mm and a height of 3.85 mm, the RAFI MICON 5 series micro keyswitches were created for these requirements. RAFI offers short-travel keyswitches for mechanical operating forces of 3, 4.5, 5.5 and 8 N for a varied range of applications. High standards with regard to convenient operation are met by outstanding tactility and a distinctly audible key click when operated. Gold contacts ensure high switching reliability and a long operating life. Depending on the selected operating force, RAFI guarantees 250,000 to one million switching cycles. MICON 5 keyswitches are available with SMT and THT connection types. Suitable solutions for any application can be found thanks to a comprehensive range of plungers and keycaps. Round and square plungers in various dimensions and lighting versions are available to enable the use of the keyswitches under overlay. The round, opaque plungers are available ranging in diameter from 6 to 19 mm and in length from 3 to 10.3 mm. RAFI offers signal indicators in various sizes for ring illuminations. The square plungers are available with lenses in the colors white, red, blue, yellow and green and with edge lengths of 11, 14.5 or 18 mm; the height is 9.7 and/or 12.5 mm. The range also includes different corner illumination versions for signal indication of switching and machine states. Matching signal indicators complete the portfolio. In addition, all RK90 series keycaps can be used with MICON 5. RAFI offers keycaps made of opaque or transparent plastic or natural anodized aluminum in the dimensions 9 x 9 mm and 14 mm (1-, 1.25-, 1.5-module).
