Environmental StatementGuidelines
- Protection of the environment and economical use of natural resources are important aspects of the RAFI corporate philosophy.
- The design of products and manufacturing processes takes great account of environmental aspects. As far as possible, we use recycled or recyclable materials for production.
- The exhaust air from production processes is cleaned in filter systems before it is fed into the atmosphere. Process water is treated in a waste water treatment plant before they are fed into the sewage system.
Relevant environmental acts / ordinances:Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWAbfG)Requirements - Avoid or reduce waste (in volume and proportion of harmful substances)
Implementation - Right from the first customer contacts, Sales and Development have to aim for the most economic use of materials possible and the lowest possible proportion of hazardous materials.
- In addition to fulfilling technical requirements of the products, these environment-related specifications are important conditions for Development.
- Production is required to use advanced production processes in order to produce as little waste and consume as little energy as possible.
- Waste is collected separately for recycling and disposal depending on the category.
- Waste for disposal is delivered to authorised specialist disposal firms. This applies in particular to waste requiring special monitoring.
Water management act (WHG), water act Baden-Württemberg (WG) and IndVRequirements - Discharge of process water in accordance with the regulation
Implementation - All necessary authority approvals for the use of water as process water and for operating waste water treatment plants are available.
- The process water from Production is first fed into a waste water treatment plant, correctly cleaned there and then discharged into the public sewage system as waste water.
- An authorised institute regularly takes samples of the waste water and analyses them.
- For the transport of hazardous substances, the values are well below those of the indirect discharger ordinance (appendix 40).
Plant ordinance for water-polluting liquids (VAwF)Requirements - storage of water-polluting liquids in accordance with the statutory regulations.
Implementation - Storage of such liquids (e.g. drilling emulsion) is carried out in accordance with the specifications of the VAwF.
- A monitoring agreement exists with TÜV Südwest for regular checks of observance of the regulations.
Hazardous substances ordinance (GefstV)Requirements - Handling of hazardous substances in accordance with the regulations
Implementation - Hazardous substances are assessed via an introduction application with regard to the hazardous potential and protective measures for safe handling are defined and implemented. Safety data sheets and operating instructions are available at the places of use.
- Before handling hazardous substances, the employees are trained at least on the basis of the operating instructions.
- The general specifications of the hazardous substances ordinance with regard to protection of water, soil and air are observed.
Federal emissions protection act (BimSchG)Requirements - limitation of emissions to legally authorised values
Umsetzung - RAFI does not operate any plants as per 4. BimSchV or plants subject to the hazardous incidence ordinance 12. BimSchV.
- RAFI does not use substances subject to 2. BimSchV (e.g. CHC, CFC).
